Abstract

The article analyses the materials of the annual EDEN - 2025 conference dedicated to the transformation of education in the context of the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. The conference was held on 15 – 17 June 2 025 at the oldest university in Europe, the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy), and outlines transformational innovations in education in the era of AI at the international level and the possibilities for their critical rethinking and implementation in Ukrainian educational practice. The main thematic areas of research are presented: digital transformation of education and science, integration of AI into educational practices, formation of 21st century competencies and development of micro - qualifications, inclusive and open education, educational analytics and quality assessment, professional development of teachers in the digital age. It is shown that current international scientific and educational discussions emphasise the need for a balanced combination of technological innovations with socio - ethical and pedagogical aspects, which ensures the sustainability of educational systems and reduces the risks of using AI. The trend towards personalisation of learning is highlighted. Considerable attention is paid to the development of critical thinking, creativity, communication and cooperation as basic competencies necessary for life and work in the society of the future. The results of the analysis show uneven involvement of researchers from different countries, while reflecting the global nature of the issues under study and the academic community's desire for integration and exchange of experience. The introduction of micro - qualifications, the development of teachers' digital and pedagogical competencies, the adaptation of successful European practices and the intensification of international cooperation are relevant for Ukrainian education. Particular attention is paid to the relevance of micro - qualifications, digital competences and international cooperation for the Ukrainian education system in the context of post - war reconstruction.
