Abstract

The article analyzes the role of continuing education in the formation of professional competence of a future teacher and ensuring the effectiveness of his further activities. The emphasis is on the fact that in the conditions of rapid socio-economic and technological changes, as well as the reform of the educational sector, studying at a higher education institution is only the beginning of the path of professional development. A modern teacher must be ready for constant self-improvement, updating knowledge and mastering new methods, which is critically important for maintaining a high level of teaching and meeting the requirements of society. The main challenges and trends that stimulate the need for continuing education are identified. The theoretical and methodological principles of continuing education are the integrity of the process, which includes formal, non-formal and informal education. The key components that should be integrated into the educational process of a future teacher are highlighted: the development of digital, emotional, social and intercultural competencies, as well as the formation of critical thinking and creativity skills. The need for the implementation of individual educational trajectories and the use of innovative technologies that will promote the active position of the subject of education and his ability to self-organize is emphasized. It is substantiated that continuing education is an indispensable condition for the effectiveness of the professional activity of a teacher. The conditions for the development of continuing education of teachers in the modern educational environment are highlighted: content update, digitalization and modernization, individualization and self-education, institutional support and socio-economic factors. Continuing education allows a teacher to remain relevant, flexible and able to adapt to the needs of education seekers and the dynamics of the educational environment. Improving the system of teacher training consists in strengthening the interaction between higher education institutions and postgraduate education institutions, as well as forming in students a conscious need for professional growth throughout their lives.
