Ukrainian Jewelry Art at the Turn of the 20th – 21st Centuries in the Context of Art Education and Regional Schools

The article examines the formation and development of contemporary Ukrainian jewelry art of the late 20th - early 21st century in the context of art education and regional artistic schools. It highlights the role of art educational institutions as key centers for shaping a professional community of jewelry artists, ensuring the interconnection between educational, creative, and exhibition practices. The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of regional models of the development of jewelry education and art in Ukraine and the determination of their impact on the formation of the contemporary artistic system. The methodological framework of the research is based on cultural studies, art history, historical-analytical, and comparative approaches, which made it possible to identify the specific functioning of leading educational and artistic centers. A biographical method is also applied to outline the role of prominent artists and educators in the development of authorial jewelry art. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive interpretation of regional models of Ukrainian jewelry art development as an integrated system combining educational practices, artistic schools, and institutional transformations. The study reveals that the Vyzhnytsia school is characterized by an experimental orientation and technological exploration, the Lviv school by a conceptual-philosophical approach, the Kosiv school by ethnocultural orientation, and the Kyiv school by integration and international engagement. The Ivano-Frankivsk, Kamianets-Podilskyi and Kharkiv centers represent modern models of institutional development of jewelry education, combining academic training, technological innovation, and digital practices. It is demonstrated that art education is a decisive factor in the transformation of jewelry making from a craft practice into authorial art with a distinct conceptual component. It is concluded that contemporary Ukrainian jewelry art is formed as a multidimensional system in which tradition and innovation, regional specificity and global artistic processes interact, while art educational institutions and creative personalities play a leading role in this development.References
