Peer-review policy
The scholarly journal Ukrainian Literature: Historical Experience and Perspectives applies a double-blind peer review procedure (the author does not know the name and affiliation of the reviewer, and vice versa). Communication between authors and reviewers is coordinated by the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Authors and reviewers do not interact directly.
Objective and independent peer review involves evaluating the content of the article, its relevance, its compliance with the journal’s scope, the adequacy of the literature review, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the research presented.
The purpose of the peer review process is to ensure a high scientific standard of publication through transparent and objective criteria for selecting manuscripts, determining their compliance with scholarly standards, and providing well-reasoned recommendations regarding revision or rejection of submitted materials.
The stages of the peer review process include:
- Automated verification of compliance with academic integrity standards in the article (including plagiarism detection using Unicheck and other technical tools).
- Preliminary evaluation of the article by members of the editorial board (up to two weeks, excluding vacation periods and the time required for preparing the next issue).
- Provision of comments by the editorial board or rejection of the submission.
- Selection of an independent expert according to the relevant research field and appointment as a reviewer.
- Peer review of the article within one month.
- Forwarding the reviewer’s comments and recommendations to the author and revision of the manuscript by the author.
- Approval of the revised version of the article.
- If necessary, appointment of an additional reviewer.
For the peer review process, the editorial board invites experienced specialists in specific scholarly fields.
