Open Data Policy

Open Data Policy

The Journal of Cross-Cultural Education supports the principles of open science and encourages authors to openly, transparently and responsibly share research data that underpin published research results.

FAIR Principles

The journal recommends that authors adhere to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, according to which research data should be:

  • Findable — available for search and identification;
  • Accessible — available through reliable repositories;
  • Interoperable — presented in open or commonly accepted formats;
  • Reusable — suitable for reuse with clearly defined conditions.

Placement and identification of research data

Authors may (or are obliged, if data are available) place research datasets in:

  • institutional repositories;
  • national repositories;
  • international research data repositories (e.g. Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, etc.).

Whenever possible, datasets should have a permanent identifier (DOI).

Data Citation in the Article

Information about available research data, including a link to the repository and the DOI of the dataset, should be indicated:

  • in the article metadata;
  • in the appropriate section of the manuscript (Data Availability Statement).

Exceptions and Restrictions

The requirement for open access to data may not apply if:

  • the data contain personal or confidential information;
  • there are ethical, legal or contractual restrictions;
  • disclosure of data contradicts the requirements of applicable law.

In such cases, authors must provide appropriate justification.

Compliance with international standards

The journal's open data policy complies with modern international practices of open science and the requirements for scientific professional publications in Ukraine.
