PECULIARITIES OF FORMING GRAMMATICAL COMPETENCE OF HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS OF NON-LINGUISTIC SPECIALITIES IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

Abstract

The article focuses on the peculiarities of forming grammatical competence of higher education students majoring in non-linguistic specialties during foreign language learning. It is emphasized that grammatical competence is a fundamental component of foreign language communicative competence, without which effective communication in academic, professional, and everyday contexts is impossible. Special attention is paid to the specifics of the educational process for students of non-philological specialties, who usually have a limited number of hours allocated for language learning, which necessitates more intensive and practice-oriented approaches. Modern methods and techniques that facilitate the successful acquisition of grammatical structures are analyzed. The importance of integrating grammar skills development with the enhancement of all types of language activities is underlined. Particular focus is placed on student motivation, individualization of the educational process, and professional orientation of tasks, all of which contribute to increasing the practical value of acquired knowledge. The article also outlines the main challenges encountered during the formation of grammatical competence and proposes ways to overcome them. The research results can be applied in the practice of teaching foreign languages at higher education institutions to improve the quality of training for students of non-linguistic specialties.
