Abstract

The metabibliographic reference book "Bibliographic sources of Ukrainian literary studies (2003–2021)" is dedicated to the study of bibliographic sources of Ukrainian literary studies, primarily published in Ukraine during 2003–2021. The publication begins with a thorough introductory article by Doctor of Social Communications Tetiana Dobko "Ukrainian Literary Bibliography: Pages of History and Development Trends". It traces the main milestones in the development of Ukrainian literary bibliography throughout the XIX–XXI centuries, analyzes metabibliographic guides that summarize the repertoire of sectoral bibliography, emphasizes problems and outlines prospects for its further development. In the "Word from the compilers", the scheme of document systematization, the main methodological principles of publication preparation, compilation principles, source base, and features of the bibliographic guide are outlined. The index consists of ten main sections: 1. General bibliographic sources; 2. Indexes of periodicals; 3. Indexes of content of periodicals and thematic collections; 4. Literary studies, translation studies; 5. Ukrainian literature and literature of the world. Interrelationships of literatures; Works of foreign writers in studies of Ukrainian literary scholars; 6. Ukrainian literature (6.1. Ancient Ukrainian literature (IX – late XVIII century); 6.2. New Ukrainian literature (XIX – early XX century); 6.3. Modern Ukrainian literature (XX – early XXI century); 6.3.1. Literary awards; 6.3.2. Thematic indexes; 6.3.3. Personal indexes; 6.4. Bibliographic and reference sources of local literary history; 6.5. Children's literature; 6.6. Literature of national minorities and peoples of Ukraine; 6.7. Literature of the Ukrainian diaspora; 7. Indexes (guides) of archival materials and catalogs of rare editions of libraries; 8. Current bibliography. Separate regional publications; 9. General reference publications; 10. Metabibliography; Index of names. The research is based primarily on the unique funds of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, bibliographic guides and electronic resources. In total, 2,223 entries are included, which comprise a bibliographic description of the publication with information about the authors and compilers; an annotation in Ukrainian, which includes information about the number of bibliographic entries in the index (if they are numbered), information about the chronological limits of the guide, its structure, auxiliary indexes (if the bibliographic description does not contain such information); content (table of contents) or a fragment of the content; storage codes in the main book depository of the NBUV and in the funds of the VNBI, and (or) the electronic address of the guide. However, the entries of some bibliographic publications differ significantly in scope, which is due to their content and indicates the creative approach of the compilers. Thus, the compilers have done painstaking, thorough work to identify, systematize, and represent documents. The authors have made the most complete selection of bibliographic guides (indexes, literature lists, reviews) on Ukrainian fiction, criticism, and literary studies that have been published over the last two decades. A review of the collected materials convincingly proves the importance of attention in our time to understanding the creative heritage of Ukrainian classical writers and also testifies to the diversity of the creative palette of the modern literary process. The bibliographic guide eloquently proves not only the unstoppable development of Ukrainian belles-lettres and literary studies in Ukraine, but also the vigorous work of libraries of various types and levels in preparing bibliographic works and popularizing the Ukrainian Word. In general, we believe that the index is prepared at a high professional level, and the publication is useful both for the development of scientific bibliography and literary studies in Ukraine, and for the further development of the information and reference system of scientific libraries in Ukraine and abroad. It will serve to optimize the use of the reference and bibliographic fund, the effectiveness of information retrieval by a wide range of users - scientific, pedagogical and library workers, university students, literary scholars and culturologists. Undoubtedly, the processing, research, disclosure of the content and introduction of bibliographic sources into scientific circulation will contribute to the popularization of the creative heritage of Ukrainian cultural and scientific figures, and the achievements of Ukrainian fiction in the world context.
