Specificity of the horror literature genre and its translation: reproduction of atmosphere, psychologism, and the author’s style.

Our articles are about the horror genre, which in the literary process is determined by the ability to evoke strong emotional reactions and maintain interest through elements of mystery, to immerse and keep the hero and reader in a state of fear of the unknown. The key feature of horror literature is the creation of a pragmatic effect, that is, a targeted emotional and psychological impact on the recipient through a system of linguistic and stylistic means. Thanks to these techniques, the author focuses the reader's attention, forms a feeling of fear, anxiety and tension, creating a characteristic atmosphere of eeriness. The specificity of horror literature is that it is characterized by a wide variety of genre and thematic varieties. This is due to the fact that it was subject to the influence of artistic and cultural systems. The term "horror literature" appeared much later than the type of such literature, which contains a huge corpus of works united by a common genre matrix. The lack of unified terminology for them has caused confusion in defining genre varieties. Decoding the conceptual sphere of horror literature requires a systematic approach that combines the analysis of the stylistics of the text with the study of genreforming components, therefore the problem of classifying horror literature still remains relevant. Analysis of scientific works devoted to this problem confirms that a clear differentiation of horror literature genres and the development of a single classification among many variable ones have been and continue to be the subject of scientific discourse among foreign and domestic researchers. According to the classification, the characters of horror literature are: - protagonists – the main characters of works, who within the plot are often not the initiators of actions, but the objects of influence of external circumstances independent of them, as a result of which they become hostages of the situation; - antagonists – central characters who represent personified evil and embody archetypes of fear and threat (monsters, werewolves, ghosts, vampires, etc.). This type of character has deep historical and cultural origins and is based, in particular, on folklore tradition (determines the ethnocultural specificity of the image); - medium characters (mediators) – peripheral characters who play the role of interworld guides due to their marginal status.References
