Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify the main models of mathematics teacher education in Israel and to present the authors' perspective on the possibilities of adapting selected components of the Israeli experience to improve the Ukrainian system of mathematics teacher education.
The study is based on the analysis, synthesis, and systematization of scientific literature, regulatory and legal documents, and materials from Israeli institutions of higher education, which made it possible to identify contemporary approaches to mathematics teacher education.
This article presents a comprehensive analysis of various models of mathematics teacher education in Israel in the context of current trends in the development of teacher education. Based on this analysis, three main models of mathematics teacher training training at teacher training colleges, the university model, and the alternative model. It has been established that teacher training colleges provide integrated training for future teachers within a single educational program. The university model focuses on in-depth mathematical training followed by the acquisition of a teaching qualification. The alternative model aims to attract graduates of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering programs to the teaching profession.
The professional training of future mathematics teachers in Israel, regardless of the model used, is based on a unified system of interrelated components: fundamental subject-matter training, methodological training, and teaching practicum. It has been established that combining different models ensures the flexibility and variability of the system for training future mathematics teachers.
